Book Review Update: This is a gorgeous book with big, bold, colorfully detailed photos on every page. Lara doesn’t disappoint readers with varying tastes either. Not only does she showcase many design styles in her stunning real-life rooms, but she gives readers plenty of captions, tips, and fixes we can use right now. Throughout the pages she has sprinkled helpful advice from professional designers who weigh-in on how they create beautiful homes, too. Lara also shares her design dilemmas for each project and then walks readers through her process for solving them. And her mood boards are amazing and fun to see! And just like she did in her first book, she tells readers what she paid for her flea-market finds then shows us the reveal on how she used them in each stunning room. Lara has written another fantastic book that readers will refer to again and again! It’s perfect for anyone who loves to decorate, but especially inspiring for those of us who love to do it on a budget and with our fabulous flea-market finds! Love it!
I am really excited about Lara Spencer’s new book “Flea Market Fabulous” that will be debuting later this summer. Her first book, “I Brake For Yard Sales” is one of my favorites on yard and garage sales, flea-markets, collecting, revamping, and decorating a home with older, used stuff. She has great retro-style but also loves classic pieces, too. A lifelong “saler” and collector, she doesn’t hold back with her excellent tips for finding the best sales, knowing how to barter for the best price, determining when a piece is a DIY or when to enlist the help of an expert. Her bright and colorful book has lots of beautifully detailed pictures from her own homes and several friend’s homes. She is also a fantastic decorator and teaches readers how to use color, contrast, pattern, etc.
If you love updating trash to treasure, you will enjoy reading this book and may want to have it in your collection to refer back to. I purchased my copy from Amazon a few years ago. You can also rent it from the library. In my opinion, it’s a great book for keeps!
Her second book “Flea Market Fabulous” can be pre-ordered from Amazon and shipped to you in mid September. However, when I pre-ordered her first book several months in advance it arrived within a few weeks — way ahead of the advertised ship date. Oh, happy day!
